Sealed wheel bearings

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I bought used wheel
bearings from a junk yard.
They sat for a few years.
One has a dragging short
section of the entire
revolution. I put oil on the
outside of the bearing seals
to see if they leaked. I was
wondering if i can use the
anti lock brake sensor
mounting holes to inject
some new grease? Did GM
over drill the bolt hole by
design for this very purpose.
Look closely at the bolt
hole.

Old, used wheel bearings that have been sitting around for years. What could possibly go wrong with that plan?
Well 2 weeks now on possibly17 year old gm bearings and they feel great. To anyone considering buying napa parts I say don't do it. I am here because of manufacturing defects that napa doesn't want to stand up and pay for the additional costs of the damage to my truck done when their bad part goes out. I bought new bearings and brakes back in Sept 2017. The first bearing failed in November. The second failed in April. The warranty bearing from April was removed and replaced by the junk yard bearings. When I removed it after about 2 week of use I see why they fai, there was a large oozing if grease coming out the center of the vehicle side if the bearing and there is no way to see it unless it is taken apart. Anywho I am out thousands of dollars and barely escaped with my life on the highway when it failed and messed up the braked. Anyone reading this needs to know that I heard a weird squeak of a difference from disc brakes sqeaks, I heard it the day before the wheel bearing failed on the highway from Colorado Springs to Denver a road construction crew ahead made me tap brakes to slow down as the traffic ahead slowed fast, the slop in the bearing caused the brake to grab and lock up the whell on the driver side and I was pulled towards the crew working just inside the white line of the meadian of I-25. I was on my way to court and when I got parked and exited my truck I noticed my tires smoking. I can't believe they didn't spontaneously combust! U realize now that the additional drag on my front end that I thought was from the wheel bearing was actually my brakes which apparently on my truck is a result of contaminated brake fluid . How did it get contaminated? The only possibility here is from the caliper getting so hot from the wheel bearing going out. I now have problems with the master cylinder and possibly the proportioning valve. I will update you when I find out . I just wanted to let you know the junk yard bearings are awesome and think they are original GM parts and had I never bought NAPA parts you may have never heard from me. Its highly unlikely that I am the only customer having failures from NAPA wheel bearings like they or the store owner who I bought them from claim!!
