93 Aerostar: Why Does Overdrive Disengages at 70mph after 2hrs of Driving?

What would cause the the overdrive to disengage after prolonged driving at
70mph with no load, on flat ground?  After it drops out of overdrive it wants to
down shift from Drive into the passing gear.  I reduce speed to 60mph, in Drive,
and it operates normally but will not initially go back into Overdrive.  After
about 20 to 30 min. it will go back into Overdrive.  It will stay in Overdrive for a
while and them drop out again.  And I start the whole process over again.  I live
in the mountains of Arizona and drive six hours to San Diego often.  Not having
an Overdrive burns to much gas.  Alexander Ford Dealership in Yuma could not
find a vacuum leak; no trouble codes came up and of course on the short test
drive with the Technician it would not repeat.  Can any one figure this one  
out?????

tork converter lock out may be bad,it wont through a ses light.

Thanks Papa for the help and the reply... Can you tell me if the tork converter lock out is a mechanical or electrical device? And do I have to remove the transmission to get at it or replace it? 'Mac'

electrical,it is inside the tranny,but befor you think about droping it,you need to have your mechanic check it.
