Ford wiper won't wipe
Asked by Prv8eye Nov 28, 2015 at 02:10 PM about the 1996 Ford Crown Victoria 4 Dr LX Sedan
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The driver's side wiper on my Mercury Grand Marquis moves across the
windshield but won't wipe water off the window unless the car is at a dead
stop. This is ONLY the driver's side, passenger side works fine.
Had the EXACT same problem with my 94 Crown Victoria. Bending the wiper
arm does not help. New blades make no difference. Seems like air pushes the
wiper OFF the window just enough that it doesn't work but only on the left side.

Did you try a new wiper arm ?
I have not tried a new wiper arm but how can that cause this problem? Seems like the wiper arm is just a stick. I'll give it a shot though. THANK YOU for your amazingly fast reply!

Wiper arms have a spring in them that is way you can lift them off of the windshield to clean windshield. The spring may be to weak to hold tight against windshield.
THANK YOU!!! I am on my way to Autozone right NOW to get that part. Do you recommend their wiper arm removal tool?
firebird gets all the credit, just show him some appreciation by hitting the button for him...
Yes sir, I don't care about points, just want to help, & what is right is right, what is wrong is wrong. Have a good day!

I definitely agree with you about the points but will give credit when credit is due.

Does anyone know why the crown Vic wipers can't be raised, like all other cars, into the air? As in when it snows, I can never raise the wiper arm. Should I replace the wiper arm? And why hasn't anyone talked about this online. There are absolutely no discussions on this anywhere. Anyone else have this problem??
