heating up

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Ford Focus SE. When I get to a stoplight the car will heat up and
when it just about gets to the red line for temperature it slowly cools back down
to middle of temp guage. Any ideas? I think it may be the fan is not kicking on
until to hot

When it is at that point that is is about to over heat you need to open the hood to see if the fans are coming on. Also check antifreeze level. May want to clean radiator coils maybe clogged with dirt and bugs causing little to almost no air flow across the coils clean with garden hose and nozzle.
