What is wrong when the car starts but there is no power?

It starts fine but there is no power feels lie there is a clog it backfires does not shift right I have been told a coil, catalytic convertor, exhaust leak, need help before I take it to a mechanic and it costs me an arm and a leg!

take a look at the fuel pressure regulator....and a clogged EGR~ these would do it~

wow you really fell for the guru thing didn't you! without seeing this car and performing some tests you need a mechanic ,their are few good ones like us who pull a solution from our ass and hit spot on ,but that's what we do, or try to anyway. forget the exhaust leak, the coil, good call. ,clogged cat, not if happened overnight, fuel filter clog maybe good chance should have new one anyway ,fuel pump very possible ,must check line pressure, that's just an arm for checking at most shops, best I can do from this point in the universe!

Have you checked the catalytic converter, how many miles on the vehicle. CC don't last forever and if they get clogged up, they will leave you on the side of the road.
