Intermittent Start Failure

I have a 2004 Ford Taurus that is experiencing intermittent start failures.
When the condition occurs, everything seems normal, I get normal sounds
and lights but when I turn the ignition to start, I get nothing. No noise, no
nothing. After I let the car sit for a while, it starts just fine. There are no
known issues with the vehicle as it runs fine, no check engine lights or
otherwise. What could be causing the issue?

Here are some guesses...weak battery, voltage drop situation, ignition switch, crankshaft or camshaft sensor, safety neutral switch, bad relay, bad fuse. Sounds electrical shutting off fuel and power.

I'd start with load testing the battery and see what the alternator is putting out voltage wise. There may be stored codes that don't actually post the engine light. So if the battery and alternator check out o.k. you may save time and have the car scanned. Good Luck!
