2003 pt cruiser

my 03 pt,ever once in a while,will crank,then take a while but will start --- most of the time it will start on first turn,what could be going wrong with it

Check the fuel filter,and fuel pump.

ditto @T_S_T and look for teeny, tiny spiders in vacuum lines - you may see their silk by slitting a hose or carefully carving out a slice of evidence. Good luck - oh, and get new vacuum hoses anyway, they may be collapsing with environmental effects.
