What could it be if the top break light and the bottom 2 break lights are out on a 03 pt cruiser touring

The brake lights are on the top, the bottom are the directional and the running lights. Meaning: The brake lights come on when you apply the brakes and the bottom lights are amber bulbs. Both types are easily changed by you. You merely take a Phillips head screwdriver and turn it to the left until it is free, do the same with the bottom screw. Put all of that stuff aside, and replace the bulbs that you have already bought at Wal-Mart or Pep Boys, Use some gloves to take out and replace the bulbs, as grease or oil on your hands will cause the glass to cook and break.
