Turbo Cruiser 2005 w/ less then 50000 miles got whole in radiator then driven home hot has never turned over since , but no water in oil. Does this mean new engine or is there other options ?

Asked by Cyndee Nov 04, 2014 at 04:07 PM about the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Turbo Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Daughter borrowed turbo cruiser 4th of July. Claims she jumped a curb, which put a whole
in radiator, then she drove it home while it was over heating. It has not turned over since.
Has nothing in the oil though... Is there any easier fixes or alternatives then having to buy
a new engine for it now? HELP PLEASE!

Your situation sounds dire. The engine has aluminum heads, once overheated, for a lengthy period of time, the ultra high heat causes the aluminum to change it's molecular structure and expand to the point that the heads become warped. I do not recall if the engine is aluminum or not but the heads are. You do not need a new engine (my opinion) you can have the head removed, The block checked and milled if it is required, The head will need replacing. Good Luck
