I have not heard of any recalls per se, but I would check www.carsurvey.org, I find a lot of great reviews there from folks who have actually owned the cars and had problems or good things to say about them. It's free and easy to navigate.

That is a decent price. The 2001 Audi A6 2.7T had a lot of problems that were cured by 2002.
