How do I tell which transfer case my 98 Grand Cherokee has (5.9L V8 engine, 4x4)?

On the transfer case it self you will find round tag some have red coloring on them. you should find # like np 247, 249j, 231. I beleine yours could be np 249 Qudra-trac. Do you have 4lo & 4hi only or Select drive range 2lo, 2hi, 4lo, 4hi. This will determine which.
