It is possible that the gas pump is going out. When it does this you don't get near the pressure at the rail that you used to. I just had this issue in my pick up couple years ago. It sputtered going uphill but is fine downhill. Because it doesn't have to work as hard downhill.. force of gravity.
Thats a gd thought,thanks randy. Ive considered maybe even the in line fuel filter cld be clogged .. Now let me give you a different example.
If the RPM is going up and the car is slowing down it can only mean the transmission is slipping. Check the transmission fluid for proper color and level.
