The air bag sensor fault on 1999 grand am sets the service vehicle soon light. I have had it reset with the same result. Do you have any clues?

Maintenance & Repair:  The service vehicle soon light stays on on my '99 Grand Am.  I
have had the codes checked and an air bag sensor is indicated.  Resetting the fault does
no good.  The air bag solenoids and systems are OK.  Clues?

yah, this can mean sheer terror as you never know when it may decide to deploy~~obviously the sensor/switch to turn it on is defective....troublesome because they normally run the airbag circuit HOT~....in other words just pulling a fuse can trigger it off~ have it serviced....don't mess around with these systems....your vertebrae will thank you later~

2 times now my car has been in a serious accident and both times did NOT deploy. Is this a common occurrence with the Gran Am 2004's? (One accident 7 years ago with a head on collision with the front half of the car affected.)
