Will select reverse ,but when I let the clutch
out makes that noise like when it's not quite
in gear

Clutch hydraulic system has air in it,Fluid leaking,weak slave cylinder,weak master cylinder,or clutch is on the way out.

    Backed car up into it's driveway space. Put it in gear, heard and felt it go into what should have been gear, but then there seemed to be no forward gears. Reverse does seem to be in tact.
