Sounds like a broken blend door or recirculation door. It may be something simple like a fuse that has blown out or a wire came lose. I believe this is an electronically actuated mechanical door/flap. Since you are not mechanical inclined, go to a good A/C repair place and have them check to see if the flaps/door are opening to allow hot air from coming in.
