No power as in door alarms will not ring and you have no dome lights or dash lights? Or you turn the key and it won't start?

Door dinger works, nothing else does, no dash lights stereo, dome, cb, and will not turn over

I take it your head lights will come on also? Sounds like your ignition switch has failed. The first position usually powers up your dash lights, radio and CB. Doesn't make sense on why it won't start in the full ON position. Did you check the fuses under the hood also? There are a couple big square 30 amp fuses. If one of those blew out, it usually will not let the car start. Look under the cover of the box. Should be a diagram there. One should say "engine".

Yes, headlights work, the diagram is worn off how do I know which one to check, and how do I check it

Well on my Toyota, the big square fuses had a small clear window in them to see if the little metal strip had blown apart. Do yours have the clear window?

You can google 1990 toyota four runner fuse box diagram and it should bring up pics of what yours should look like. It will have the location in the pics.....

On my 98 runner you need a Toyota key for ignition. Just getting a replacement key at a hardware store will open doors but not work for the ignition switch.

mendoAu, if you are not the original owner, someone may have changed out the ignition switch at one time. I believe the only way to get a key made is to get the serial number off of the lock cylinder. Then with the number, a Toyota dealer can make you a correct key. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0CRdsFtWdQ
