My timing belt broke and I need to know if I
should be concerned about my valves. It's
a 3.0 v6

You should have been "concerned" BEFORE the belt broke- it doesn't matter now-

I know on some engines you don't have to worry about the valves. It didn't make any strange sounds when it broke, the car simply died.

The good folks over at http://www.yotatech.com claim most of the belt-driven toyotas were clearance engines, but you can search their site for more detailed answers.
