Jack up the car. Get under the car and rap on the starter with a hammer. As you are hitting the starter, have someone hold the key to the ON position like they are trying to start it. If suddenly the car fires right up, that means your starter is bad. It may start a few more times, but it will need to be replaced. If you have tried this and car still won't start, I would try replacing the battery. A totally dead battery will not start the car even with a jump. A dead battery will also cause the car to die without warning. Your alternator may be bad which will cause the battery to go dead especially when you turn on your head lights. I just went through this exact scenario with my kids car. She had broken her alternator belt and was driving around without it charging the battery. It would run for a short time and then die in the street.
Same question but I did all that.its sounds like some electrical problem. My 89 camry was running fine and suddenly when I stop and start again did not start at all. Put a new starter motor put a new battery same only click. So what do you think I should check next?
Nidharsha, Check your fuses and relays. Make sure that your cables and grounds are clean and tight. You may also have a bad neutral safety switch. Try holding the key to the ON position while moving your shifter from park to neutral a few times. You may get lucky and it will fire up. Here's a video on how to do some tests.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpPOcO6f798
