Asked by GuruYZC7 Mar 28, 2017 at 02:06 PM about the 1999 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my car slowly stopped starting, it seemed like the starter was going out,
then finally it wouldn't start at all. We replaced the started but still nothing,
it's now wired where i just touch a wire that he placed on the started to the
positive on the battery and it starts. He said to get a new relay which i did
but it's still not starting, my headlights are not coming on either, just flood
lights. Help please!!

The proper diagnosis requires the use of a digital volt meter...and the knowledge to use said meter. If you can continue to start this vehicle up with a jumper wire , you might consider taking this vehicle to a repair facility for diagnosis. Since the starter motor ...start relay have been replaced...the only other parts I can think might cause a no crank...is...the crank fuse...ignition switch...and the park neutral and or clutch switch. What engine and tyranny in this vehicle?

Check and see if you have a 40 amp MAIN fuse under hood Fuse box.

Under the hood there is a fuse....relay box. Lift the cover and on the underside of the cover is a list of fuses and relays. If you are not inclined mechanically....best to let a pro proceed with the diagnosis.
