Why does reverse light in shift indicatior stay on when car is in drive ?

Likely two wires in the trunk have rubbed through and are touching(most likely where the wires have movement when the trunk is lifted or closed.

Kirk your answer was right on,that was the problem two wires were touching through the insterlation .They needed to cleared and resoddered problem solved. Great find Kirk thanks a million !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bobbyjoe150
