1994 toyota corolla/1.8L cuts off after 5 minutes of driving...Why?

Asked by R5berry Apr 23, 2013 at 09:53 AM about the 1994 Toyota Corolla DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This car has a new fuel pump, fuel filter, new timing belt, water pump, throttle position sensor, map sensor, mass air flow sensor, and found a good throttle body from junk-yard, replaced all vaccume hoses that were split or leaked air......Run computer to check for codes, none found!  Never seen a "check engine light" still cuts off but restarts when tried!

'cuts off'...suspect a high-voltage spark issue. You have a distributor on this model and a distributor cap...assuming your battery is newer than seven years old and the black cable has a well established connection to ground, I'm going to go ahead and suspect a ballast on the high voltage~

Clean the air intake manifold.. did you change the thermostat with the water pump? Might be water in the gas tank..
