Temperature/overheating

Asked by Guru64KM4 Mar 09, 2020 at 06:36 PM about the 1997 Toyota RAV4 4 Door AWD

Question type: General

I have a 97 rav 4 with 311000 miles on it. It started
overheating suddenly. I put blue devil stop leak, that didn't
work. I put a new water pump and thermostat, that didn't
work.  I just did a block test in the fluid remains blue so that
is an indication that there is not a head gasket issue and  It
has a brand new radiator cap as well

I let it idle a couple hrs ago with rad cap off to see if I could see it circulating, and it was. I think I left out the part were It overheated after replacing thermostat, so i took it out and it's been out a couple days. Pressure is goodbecuase it got hot enough to blow the overflow reservoir off and expel a QT and a half or so of coolant. I beleive that i over filled it tho.
