cause of coolant hot light coming on

Hot coolant light comes on at times but there are no signs of a problem and
the gauge continues to read normal.  What would cause the light to come on?

Your cooling fan, your cooling fan sensor could be sporadically not working. Your thermostat could be getting stuck in the closed position from time to time. I would flush the system change the thermostat and radiator cap.

66 impala hot light came on why is that just this evening hasn't happened till about an hour ago why all of a sudden?
