ordinarily there should be a release inside the glovebox (like the old Buicks used to have) but there's a lot of fluff with regards to this problem and it sounds like it's a vacuum operated solenoid....one guy said take out the backseat that way you can get to the cable?...not so if this is a vacuum device...another said they used a screwdriver to jimmy it open...another said they used a key blank and a lot of force...doesn't make sense for a radio controlled opener...this is indeed a mystery...if your key has a remote on it you may try to get an eyeball on the thing from removin' the backseat and take a pole to press the "open trunk" button...other solutions included using the power from the cigarette lighter to power the solenoid? I have no Idea what they mean....it's a crazy blogoshere for which you can not hold accountable to anything...in short, you're on your own buddy~

Hi Not sure if this is an active thread, but i live in the boonies so mercedes tech came out and couldn't fix it (in fairness i wasn't charged) and he suggested i call the fire department, which i did. Brilliant! I had to sign a waiver before they opened the door in case of damage. But they e Were at my house 5 minutes after i called, opened the door within 10 minutes, then off again back to the station. It turns out they have training on opening doors with the infamous "jaws of life" on the scene of an accident, but it takes a while (and as a result could end with a death) to set up and trashes the door in the process. Their preference is to open the door quickly with tools. The brought the tools, i gave them a free test vehicle, and voila - win/win. And they refused any payment because they said they were "just doing their job." And a good job it was
