I wrongly put postive and negative battery to jump and all ets , brake, abs light comes on.....the steering wheel stiffer. ....what do I have to check

Interesting.... That means you accidentally hooked up the batteries in series and put up to 24 volts through your car's system. As a guess your car probably has a bunch of safety measures to prevent any damage. Have you tried just disconnecting your battery for about 15 minutes to see if everything resets?

Am doing it right now.......finger cross.....what will be a worst case scenario?

Since you didn't mention anything about the car not running, the worst case is you're right back where you started from and need to clear the codes. Good luck

Car is running good drove it from work to home......it just the steering wheel and speedometer not working.

Sorry, I'm at a loss other than getting a OBD II scanner which should work on cars from '96 to the present.
