No headlights

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today I replaced the headlight switch because my
dimmer did not work, also I replaced my wiper
switch. My headlights work before replacing the
headlight switch, but now all I get is dash lights
and Park lights and brake lights. You can see on
the connector that there has been some heat, but
they worked previous to the new Switch. Could the
new Switch have allowed enough voltage to
something to fry it without cooking the fuse?

Note the diagram. See the fusible link, the wire going from fusible link to headlamp switch, black wire with orange tracer, should be hot all the time, use a test lite and check voltage on the wire. If no voltage, check fusible link. The other lamps are usually fused, the headlamps aren't wired that way. The headlamp switch, for headlamps only, has an internal circuit breaker. I can only help with testing.
