Which engine? Generally, remove the belt and remove two or three bolts.
That's exactly right. http://www.ehow.com/how_7656440_replace-cavalier-alternator.html
2.2L Ecotec - I have one in the driveway. Remove or loosen the belt. Remove the upper radiator hose and that smaller bottom hose on the coolant reservoir. Catch your coolant to pour back in. It looks like three 1/2" - 13mm bolts pointing towards the front holding the alternator in place.
Yea, you'll want to take that negative lead off the battery first and then the connector on the back of the alternator.
thanks tenspeed. That was good i still cant remove it should I pry it. not sure does not want to comeout
Leave the bolts in there loose and whack it with the mallet or pry on the opening at the top. It probably has some corrosion holding it in place.
Thank you for your help ten speed I got it out Took two people and a pry bar some one to hold it
Glad you got it out of there. If the bolts were loose, it would come free and not drop.
