Cannot start 02 Malibu.

Car won't start. Has spark and turns
over but will not start. Cannot hear
the fuel pump priming when key is in
the on position. Car sat for 1 year
before I got it. The previous owner
thought it had a bad head gasket
but no oil in the water or vice versa

The fuel pump has power and can be heard while it is priming. I don't know where I can disconnect the fuel line in the motor compartment to test the pressure, as there are no obvious fuel line connectors present.

Someone i know suggested the timing belt. Is it possible the the timing belt has slipped? And I'd so would I have the same symptoms?
