2001 cavalier trouble code p0171

so car was running fine then gas cap broke so i used an immed one from
another vehicle and then .... before i have had the chance to replace with
correct... all of a sudden the trac off light pops on .... but car is fine still
drove it then parked and would not start.... it actually turns over to start but
does not catch to hold did the diagnostic today code p0171 so it has to do
with oxegyn sensor defective.... ignition misfire repair and fuel ingector
problem.... so gurus please help me not spend a zillion at the shop. I bought
the new gas cap that fits today ...

Have auto-zone erase the code and go from there and if the codes reset then let us know. otherwise I would do some engine servicing and most time when a oxygen sensor code sets it is most time fine and you need to find out why it set verses replace it. Plugs, Plug wires, PCV cleaned out clean throttle body, IAC, TPS, and Vacuum leaks are prime cause for this code.
i erased the code myself i have an obd scan tool
tried car it went from no start to trying to hold the start....
yes was assuming the air into the gas tank because of wrong cap was not helpful....
is this something i should take to a small lil shop?? like would repair be ballpark 200-500 or do u think higher lol !!!!... I really like to address things myself first ya kno why i love you gurus!

I would look around it first to see if any thing jumps out at ya, Like vacuum hoses, see if plugs test good with a voltmeter, check all electrical connections.
