Battrey light

Asked by luckycarl Jan 17, 2017 at 10:55 AM about the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 cavalier. While driving, the battery
light will come on intermittently, sometimes for
only 2 seconds, sometimes for up to 10 seconds.
Had the battery and alternator checked out, both
are in good shape. Don't know what could cause
this. Need help.

What normally turns on the battery light is the voltage regulator inside the alternator. The alternator could still perform the way it is suppose to, but needs a voltage regulator to keep the proper voltage going to the battery. I have a rebuild shop look at this, parts store people are not experts with alternators and how to read there test stands.
