Rumble noise

Asked by Alttude Oct 27, 2010 at 03:26 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet S-10 LS Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Going through a snow ice storm last night and I pressed the 4HI button and it flipped back to 2 wheel. I held the button down and then it engaged. Today after driving about 20 miles, I heard a rumble strip noise when slowing down. This happened on a number of occasions and then I switched back to 4HI and it did not make any noise when slowing down. However when I went back to 2WD it made that same sound when slowing down only. Anybody have some thoughts?

probably just not fully disengaging the 4wd

Thanks, Similar to what my brother was saying. He thinks I have a leak in a vacuum line somewhere near the transfer case and it's not disengaging properly.
