Fuel Pressure test

Have purchased a fuel pressure tester. Need some tips on how to use it to get a good reading, instructions are vague. do I just take gas cap of before doing the test?

If your testing the fuel pressure from the pump you can do that on the fuel rail on the engine. There will be a cap that screws off with a needle valve under it. You should get about 50 psi. on this one. Yes you should leave the gas cap on.

On these trucks you have to remove the quick disconnect to the fuel rail. Put in a "splice" I guess you'd call it that. It's a quick connect a double ended connect for the feed line to the pressure tester. If you have a test kit this is usually an added accessory you need to purchase separately. If you have a complete fuel pressure test kit you should have the fuel line adapter that will connect to the fabtech fuel line and then to the rail like the pic attached. Your basic fuel pressure test kits don't have the adapter hose that is required for service. If you are handy then you can make your own. I have taken a few pieces from a couple of different fuel pressure test kits and cobbled together an adapter hose in a pinch.
