I just bought my first Dodge.2003 Ram 1500 4.7 Magnum. What exactly makes it a "Magnum"?

The marketing department makes it a Magnum. Just a name.

What he said ^^^ On 4.7's and 3.7's the "magnum" badge is purely marketing. They are officially called "Powertech".... the 3.9,5.2 and 5.9L engines are "Magnum" engines which are the successors to the LA series engines of the same sizes.

It means "GAS HOG" . Mine stays parked all week until weekend .with these gas prices in V.A..... I
