I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer an its makin a loud ticking sound when started I was told its the lipper seal needing to be replaced any idea

The ticking sound is most likely a mechanical issue. I'm not certain how a seal would relate to this.. Is the ticking coming from the engine? or can you tell if it is coming from an external part like pulleys, alternator, etc.. ?
