Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After I installed new crank positioning
sensor check engine light stayed on
plugged in computer still read crank
positioning sensor. Could it be bad wires
from the crank positioning sensor to the I
guess computer?

This could be a case where the ECU needs a certain number of start cycles or the vehicle driven a default mileage before the code will clear. Another option would be to disconnect the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes to reset the ECU. See if that will clear the code.

After I replaced crank position sensor I reset comp and turned off ck eng light. Drove 11/2 miles and ck eng light came on again. I plugged scanner in and again it said crank position sensor.

Have you checked the wiring harness to the crank sensor? And on this year model malibu,s it will hold the code unless you have proper scanner to clear it.
