The little latch on the soft top got broken. What is the part called? Is there a replacement? If no replacement is it a necessary item?

The little gold colored latch on the soft top got broken when my husband forced it.  Is it
fixable?

Agree with Judge Roy on this one...I tried looking for this gold colored latch you referred to, no luck. Replacing the top isn't expensive and most likely better than trying to fix this anyway. My advice: Make your husband pay for it, since he broke it...or at least get him to take you to a really nice dinner and a movie!! :)

go to you local vw dealer ad see what it cost. I would think you should be able to replace the latch cheaper than the whole top
