98 VW Cabrio Standard 5 speed. No matter what gear I'm it will come out of gear... I have to either release the gas petal or engage and release the clutch to get it going again. What is that? low on tranny fluid?

Transmission fluid does not hold a manual transmission in gear. Transmission fluid lubricates the bearings and gears. The transmission might need rebuilding.
