2002 VW Cabrio - will randomly die while driving

Driving my car, it dies, pull over and start it, no problem, drive more, it dies again.  No rhyme or reason, randomly dies.  Will go for days, then it does it again.

check filters first -- especially the fuel filter, and battery cable connections -- it may be tricky to find but it may be one of those simple things

Mine did the same for several months and then finally died for good. Turned out to be the ignition coil on the fire wall going bad. Popped a new one in and she runs like a dream.
