it's the same r134-a refrigerant as every other vehicle on the road.

A/C work is best left to the professional. Get it wrong and it can cost big bucks to repair and injury is also possible due to the pressures involved.

To add refrigerant, you need a pressure gauge, and a can of refrigerant. The instructions come with the refrigerant, be sure to have the car and a/c on blowing 1 click below full blast, then check the system and fill as needed.

most shops will drain all your old refrigerant and then top it back up with new. Most charge around 100$ to do this. Its simpler and easier and gives full fresh refrigerant.

Also if you have a shop evacuate and pull a vacuum on the a/c system the correct amount of refrigerant can be measured and installed back into the system. The systems work best with the correct charge and not one that is guessed at.
