I saw a magazine article where a fellow with a 2002 Beetle TDI (same motor) had modified his to get some crazy torque. He swapped the injectors, pump, turbo and ECU and got like 425 Ft/Lbs! He was tear-assing around the autocross circuits in Florida....sounded like fun.
