white smoke coming out muffler and loud put put noise coming from engine

You may have a broken piston ring, head gasket blown, among other things. Is it a lot of smoke? Just a little? White/ gray/blueish smoke is oil or coolant getting in to combustion chamber. Did it happen suddenly or progressively got worse? And 'put put'..like a knocking sound? Has it overheated? Check motor dipstick to see if there is coolant in there, it may show over full if coolant got in there, and also check radiator to see if oil is in it.

I find it just a little bit frustrating when we ask for more information to try to help and the original questioner never gets back to us. How are we supposed to help? Questions like "my car won't start, why?" How the heck are we going to answer that?

I guess that's the fate we suffer David, trying to help when the OP doesn't respond to requests for more information is annoying but it still feels good to at least try to help out a fellow motorist :)
