I'm not sure about the factory recommendation here, but my personal opinion on timing belts is every 60k-80k, depending on manufacturer. Some will last for years and well over 100k miles, while others will fail as low as 50,000 miles sometimes.

The official replacement interval is listed as 105,000 miles; but there have been reports of very expensive failures before that mileage. Apparently; some states have a law that vehicles cannot require major repairs before 100,000 miles; which is why some factories have published 105,000 mile timing belt replacement intervals. The factory also recommends timing belt inspection at 40,000 and 80,000 miles; which covers them for liability if the belt on this interference engine breaks before the listed mileage. From the mileage at the reported failures; I would replace the belt on this vehicle every 60,000 miles. Don't forget to have the tensioner & water pump replaced at the same time.

better to be safe then sorry, change it at 60,000miles or 100,000 kms and if it is a used vehicle and your unsure if the timing belt has been changed or not if the belt doesn't look brand new then I'd change it. Its a simple job to change a timing belt but not so simple to change a cylinder head.
