Starting the car

Hi my camaro 97 every time i turn the
starter to turn the ignition on it makes a
loud screeching noise under the hood like
metal screeching and doesnt' turn on until i
pump gas than it turns on it takes me
around 3 trys to turn it on.  please help

I suspect that loud screeching noise is the sound of your starter grinding the teeth off the flywheel. I would inspect the starter and flywheel for damage. If the damage to the flywheel is very bad the transmission will have to come out to fix it.
