07 corolla won't take gas normally

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I smashed my corolla last summer on the driver's side door. Immediately
afterward it doesn't take gas at the pump without it shutting off every 2 seconds.
I think something is wrong with the evap or fuel vent lines. Does anyone know
how to get this fixed cheaply?

Look in the damaged area for the problem. Hopefully it is just the vent line.
Look up an EVAP diagram for your Corolla, and make any repairs yourself, chances are you damaged a vent line from the tank to the charcoal canister. There is also a vent line from the top of the filler neck back to the tank. If either line gets blocked, rising pressure from the gas filling up can trigger the gas pump to shut off. It's not the easiest system to work on, because you have to get beneath the vehicle, and may have to drop the gas tank, but they can be worked on with basic tools (wrenches, sockets, pliers, etc.) Put the car up on jackstands or ramps. Most of the EVAP system can be accessed behind a shield (unscrew and remove it), usually located between the tank and spare tire.
