While in first gear, there was a loud pop. Not a back fire. pulled to the side to inspect, no fluids leaked. But noticed fluid under and to the side of a case next to the trans. Any suggestions??

That could be the transfer case if you have four wheel drive. If the fluid looks fresh, call a mechanic to look at it. It might need to be on a flatbed to go to the repair shop.
