Now the engine rattles and whines when
idling. Sounds like something is loose on the
same side.

Finally took it in and my AC compressor was locked up so that was burning rubber smell and the ugly whiny rattling sound..

what can you do when your gear shift is registering that it is in reverse when it actually positioned in park? I just experienced this and had to turn the car off or else it would have keep moving backward. Now i am not able to turn the car back on without it being in the park position. It started then ran out of gas. Now hard . to start and won't stay running at less than 3500 rpm so when it shifts the r pm drops and it dies. I pulled one plug it smells strong of gasoline
