Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When in 2 wheel drive  while going through the gears there is a loud grinding sound when the tranny shifts.  Only when trany shifts it makes noise.  I attempted to put in 4 wheel drive and it worked, until the grinding got worse and lost all power in 4 low.  When I put back into 2 whell drive I got power back but still made the same sound when the automatic tranny shifts.  My question is    Has anybody had something like this happen to them.  And  Do you think its in the transfer case or the tranny?  Any help would be great

normal problem with the older surburban's, all you gotta do is put a little extra tranny fluid in, about a quarte should do it! thanks for playing
