My car is a 2001 Buick lasebre and for no reason my rpm speed ometer turns off what is cousing this

Sounds like a bad plug connection, bad ground, corrosion on 1 or more wires, a short or in a lot of cases a bad cluster. GM's famous for there bad clusters from early 2000's til about 2007
