how do i hook up battery to red and black z28 camaro 1992

I have rubber to be attached with 2 nuts/screw.  I cannot get the screw to go into the battery.  Does the rubber cable go around the nut.  Please help if you can.

Yes, you have to work the flange of the bolt inside the rubber. All that is pretty tough, so don't worry about wrecking anything. Then the bolt will reach.
