Why does the motor shut off the first time you crank it up after letting it sit for a while ?

I think all your issues are fuel related. Ask all your questions in one post. It helps get an accurate picture of the problem you are having. Check your fuel pressure. If its low change your fuel filter and check again. If no improvement then replace the fuel pump.
